Pollution in Americas waterways

What percentage of America's waterways are polluted?

Nancy's response:

The latest percentage I am aware of is 55% but that was from an EPA report in 2013.

The report labeled 55 percent of the nation's water ways as being in "poor" condition and another 23 percent as just "fair." Only 21 percent of rivers were considered "good" and "healthy biological communities."

EPA Survey Finds More Than Half of the Nation’s River and Stream Miles in Poor Condition

I am not aware of any EPA studies that are more current. I suspect that the percentage is higher since the clean water laws are not being adequately enforced.
