Many people are drinking ozonated water for 2 main reasons:

  1. They want water that is purified by the ozone process and because
  2. They believe ozonated water increases oxygenation and detoxification in the body.

A good quality ozone generator can produce water that is free of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and most synthetic chemicals.

It also contains significant levels of ozone bonded to the water.

What Is Ozonated Water?

For a little background on the potential benefits of drinking ozonated water, it helps to understand what ozone is.

Ozone is an unstable form of oxygen. The type of oxygen we breathe in every day is O2, which has 2 atoms of oxygen.

Ozone is O3, which means 3 atoms of oxygen are bound together.

It is well known in the natural health field as well as in science and medicine that oxygen deprivation at the cellular level leads to disease. Thus, one of the quickest ways to improve cellular health is to increase oxygenation.

Typically, increased cellular oxygenation is achieved primarily through a live food (i.e., raw, organic) diet, deep breathing, exercise, and by drinking enough clean water to be fully hydrated.

Ozone is considered “activated oxygen,” which has been used therapeutically in a number of ways, including by intravenous injection, blood transfusions, ozone showers, as well as ozonated drinking water.

Drinking this water is considered to be one of the simplest and least expensive ways to get ozone safely into the bloodstream.

3 Common Methods of Producing Ozone

Three of the most common methods of producing ozone include:

  1. Ultraviolet light
  2. Cold plasma and
  3. Corona discharge (hot spark).

Ultraviolet and cold plasma are commonly used in therapeutic applications.

Ultraviolet is useful when you want to produce a slow, steady stream of ozone, while cold plasma can produce greater quantities within a shorter period of time.

Corona discharge was originally designed for industrial use, but has been made available for home or personal use.

Corona discharge generators are considered the best for producing medical-grade ozone water.

Medical-grade ozone generators cost $3,000 or more. However, home-grade ozonators begin around $300. As usual, you generally get what you pay for.

The ozone water generator that we recommend for home use is the Nature Kleen one (which uses the corona discharge method), as shown here at Amazon.com.
