Water Benefits Health News, Issue #36

Hello,,

I know it might be hard for some people to believe that drinking water helps to lose weight. However, from my own health and weight consulting practice, I know this to be true.

It is not that drinking water alone (without any other diet or life-style changes) causes significant weight loss. Rather, my observation has been that when combined with a healthy weight loss program, those who drink enough water daily will consistently lose weight while those who don’t drink enough water often get stuck in weight-loss plateaus.

One of the most important reasons for this is because the body must be fully hydrated in order to efficiently metabolize stored fat. Dehydration slows the fat-burning process and water speeds it up.

Even though there may be numerous potential reasons for this outcome, our feature article highlights 10 important reasons why water helps to lose weight.

In addition to my personal observations, there are clinical studies that validate the benefits of drinking water to lose weight. (See "Drinking Water to Lose Weight – Clinical Studies Validate the Benefits" below.)

Drinking more water while dieting will help to avoid dehydration, since even mild dehydration can inhibit the type of weight loss most people are looking for—the riddance of fat.
