well water

When i distill a gallon of water from my well, i end up with a cup of a white calcium-like substance that dries as hard as a rock. Is it safer to drink the water straight from the well or distill it first?

Response:

It's hard to say which is better, without knowing what is in your well water. It sounds like your well water has high levels of calcium, but it could be something else.

I assume you are testing your well water regularly. If not, then I would definitely invest in a drinking water filter.

I don't recommend distillation or reverse osmosis for long-term use. A multi-stage counter top or under sink water filter would be a better option.
