Drinking lemon water with ulcers?

If a person is having ulcer problems, then how can he/she take lemon water? Please give your guidelines to them also...

ANSWER:

Anyone with ulcers should avoid eating acidic foods or drinking acidic beverages, such as lemon water.

My recommendation is that you have to first heal the ulcers before drinking any lemon water.

Even though lemon juice is alkalizing in the body AFTER it is metabolized, it is still acidic from mouth to stomach. The citric acid in lemons (even if diluted in water) will most likely cause pain and exacerbate the ulcer.

Most ulcers can be cured with antibiotics or possibly other natural antibiotics such as high-quality colloidal silver (such as Sovereign Silver Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol), oregano oil, high-allicin garlic, or olive leaf extract.

I am a natural health practitioner and always look first to nature for healing. However, with ulcers, I wouldn't mess around with natural remedies for too long if an antibiotic will take care of it within 10 to 14 days.

The problem with antibiotic medications is that they not only kill the bad bacteria, they kill the good gut bacteria (probiotics) also. We need the good bacteria for optimal digestion and elimination, as well as immunity.

Thus, it is highly important when taking antibiotics to replenish the good bacteria with a probiotic supplement on a daily basis.

So I usually recommend to my clients on antibiotics to take a probiotic that contains at least 50 billion live culture (refrigerated). Take one capsule first thing in the morning and another one at bedtime.

The probiotics do not interfere with the effectiveness of the antibiotic. The antibiotic medication is preferably taken with food (not at the same time as the probiotics).

If you have ulcers and have already tried some type of medication and it has not worked for you or if you have been dealing with ulcers for a long time, there are other options to lemon water if you want the natural cleansing and alkalizing benefits of lemon water without the acidity.

I recommend taking plain, filtered water and adding either liquid or powdered organic super greens (such as a blend of wheatgrass, barley grass, alfalfa, or AFA (Aphanizomenon flos-aquae).

There are a number of high quality super greens on the market that are both alkalizing and detoxifying. A few of my favorites are:

Vibrant Health Green Vibrance (This one is unique in that it also contains 25 billion probiotics.)

Amazing Grass Alkalize and Detox

E3Live AFA

A few other good brands you can find at Amazon include:

Garden of Life Alkalizer and Detoxifier

Greens Plus Superfood

Another option is to add liquid chlorophyll to your water. Chlorophyll is alkalizing and nourishing to the blood and the body.

In fact, chlorophyll is to a plant what blood is to the human body. Interestingly, the chemistry of chlorophyll is very similar to that of blood.

Some of the best brands of liquid chlorophyll include:

World Organics Liquid Chlorophyll

Herbs Etc. Liquid ChlorOxygen

Anyway, I guess my point is that for people with ulcers, there are other things you can do to replace lemon water until the ulcers are healed. Lemons are less expensive than these green products, but the greens will also most likely help the ulcers heal faster.

Caution: As always, if you are taking any medications, you should check with your doctor or pharmacist for any possible contraindications with any natural supplements.
