The benefits of aloe vera juice are numerous and have been known for centuries. The aloe plant can be used for a wide range of health issues and is beneficial for both topical and internal use.

In this article, we will focus on the internal benefits of drinking aloe.

Acid-Alkaline Balance

Aloe helps prevent acidosis which occurs from eating animal products, carbohydrates and drinking alcohol. When body alkalinity drops below 7.35, we become more prone to disease and illness.

Aloe vera juice helps reduces the high levels of acidity in our blood stream and promotes optimal acid-alkaline balance in the body.

Anti-Inflammatory

One of the most important health benefits of aloe vera juice is its anti-inflammatory effects in the body. Disease conditions such as arthritis, disease, and irritable bowel syndrome are associated with inflammation in the body.

Even though inflammation can be a result of the body's natural healing process, when inflammation is prolonged it can cause health issues.

Plant steroids such as lupeol, sitosterol and campesterol in aloe vera juice block the production of histamines and prostaglandins, which are responsible for high levels of inflammation in the body.

While aloe vera on the skin helps soothe external inflammation, drinking aloe water can help reduce some symptoms associated with heart disease, arthritis, Crohn's, colitis, and various other caused by chronic inflammation in the body.

Digestive Aid

Aloe vera juice has long been used for digestive upsets. One of the health benefits of aloe is its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties it has in the gut when taken internally.

Aloe vera can help your body's natural defense against microbes in the digestive tract, relieving stomach upsets, constipation and irritable bowel symptoms.

It can also assist with the movement of food through the bowel, which means faster elimination of toxins and shorter period of gastrointestinal infections. It can also reduce gut acidity, gas, and bloating.

Detoxification

Aloe vera is a naturally detoxifying substance. Drinking aloe vera juice allows for the rapid uptake of aloe in the system, absorbing toxins by binding with them and rendering them inactive. It also ensures removal of toxins from the body faster due to its mild laxative effect.

Aloe also helps remove toxins from the entire body, not just the bowels. If you drink aloe water regularly, you will enjoy the gentle detoxification benefits without the side effects or need for drastic internal cleansing of the body.

Weight Loss

Aloe vera has proven to be beneficial for many as a weight loss aid for a number of reasons, including all those listed above. It also contains some soluble fiber to reduce absorption of dietary fats in the body.

Our body stores dangerous toxins in fat cells to protect our vital organs. As mentioned earlier, drinking aloe water can help remove toxins. Fewer toxins means your body will less likely have to hold onto unwanted fat cells.

Blood Sugar and Cholesterol

Aloe vera can help regulate blood sugar levels, which could potentially benefit anyone with blood sugar issues such as diabetics. Drinking aloe juice reduces glucose spikes and is a natural hypoglycemic.

However, diabetics would need to consult their physician before beginning to drink aloe water as it may increase the effect of diabetic medications.

Aloe vera can also have a positive effect on cardiovascular health. Studies have shown a remarkable 30% reduction in cholesterol in animal testing.

Oral Health and Youthful Skin

Drinking and swishing with aloe juice can help improve oral health because of its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties and it contains no added sugars or acids.

The hydration properties of water are well documented and aloe vera also helps your body retain moisture. Drinking aloe can improve the suppleness and softness of your skin, helping it stay wrinkle and blemish free for longer.

Vitamins, Minerals, and Amino Acids

Aloe vera contains all 8 essential amino acids needed by our body, as well as minerals such as calcium, iron, zinc, copper, potassium, sodium, chromium, manganese and magnesium. It also provides folic acids and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E.

You can obtain numerous health benefits of aloe vera juice and just one cup a day can go a long way towards detoxifying your body and improving overall health.
