Acne, cancer and lemon water

by Ursula Elrod

My acne cleared up in a week of drinking lemon water every day! Also I heard that lemon juice is one of the biggest natural cancer fighting agents available!

Nancy’s Comments: Thank you for sharing your lemon water benefit with acne. I think part of the reason you experienced such quick results is because the primary causes of acne are from an imbalance in the body pH and the accumulation of toxins. Drinking lemon water can help to resolve both of those underlying issues.

I think most of us tend to forget that our skin is our largest eliminative organ. More toxins are released through the skin each day than by any other means.

Lemon Water Is a Natural Detoxification Aid

Drinking lemon water is very effective at assisting the body’s natural detoxification processes and helps to restore a healthier pH in the body, which is slightly alkaline. In fact, the body works very hard to keep the blood at about 7.3 to 7.4 pH. Any degree of variation in that range of blood pH and serious complications may arise.

When the internal environment of our body is overly acidic -- often from chronic dehydration, high levels of stress, as well as an excess consumption of animal products, sodas, black tea, coffee, sugar, white flour products, and other acidifying foods –- our skin becomes fertile ground for bacteria that causes acne.

Then we combine our lifestyle factors with our daily environmental exposure to harmful chemicals and toxins from air pollution (indoor and outdoor), water pollution, personal care and household cleaning products, and pesticides and other contaminants on our food, it is no wonder that anyone has clear skin.

Of course, there are many other causes of acne, including hormonal imbalance, oily skin, monthly menstrual cycles, and the systemic yeast condition candida, which may require more lifestyle changes in addition to drinking lemon water.

However, drinking lemon water is certainly an easy, inexpensive and harmless way to start detoxifying the body from the inside out to help clear up the skin and give the liver and the immune system a boost.

Lemon Juice and Cancer Prevention

Regarding your comment about lemon juice being a cancer-fighting agent, I couldn’t say that lemon juice actually fights cancer cells, but I do believe that lemon water significantly boosts immunity and helps improve the internal environment of the body so that it is much less conducive to cancer growth.

What we do know for sure about cancer is that it is clearly related to a highly acidic condition in the body. In fact, a man by the name of Dr. Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in the early 1930s for that very discovery.

Dr. Warburg proved that cancer was caused by a lack of oxygen and nutrients to the cells due primarily to the toxic accumulation of acidosis in the body.

Since drinking lemon water helps remove acidic waste and strengthens liver function, it makes sense to me that it could certainly be a strong cancer preventive habit. What do you think?
