Water Benefits Health News, Issue #46

January 9, 2018

Hello,,

I don’t know about you but everyone around me seems to be getting sick, not only with the typical colds and flu but also serious health conditions.

It has made me re-focus my attention on ways to boost immunity and to nourish body, mind and spirit for optimal health and wellness.

The immune system is highly complex and there is no simply solution, pill, diet or even lifestyle that will ensure we never get sick.

However, I believe chronic stress is at the core of the immunity issue, and it is something we can control to a certain extent because it has a lot to do with our mindset and how we respond to change and struggles in life.

Obviously, we can’t escape stress; it’s part of life. But we can choose not to struggle with the struggle—and that’s half the battle. And when I say stress, I am referring to all aspects of it—mentally, emotionally, physically, environmentally, and perhaps even spiritually.

What many don’t realize is that stress in the physical body can be initiated by dehydration, and then the dehydration can cause further stress. So, the stress can become a vicious cycle that spirals into other areas of our lives and relationships.

Thus, as always, I recommend drinking enough water daily to give your immune system what it needs most to do its job and support your body’s ability to better cope with stress.

The pursuit of optimal immunity and wellness is about homeostasis, or balance, in body and the mind. And this state of balance is never static; it’s a dynamic (i.e., ever changing) state of resilience.

Thus, it’s not about doing everything “right” but doing the best we can with what we have to work with, accepting our imperfections and vulnerabilities—and adapting to whatever arises.

In any case, if you are interested in improving or protecting your health, you might want to check out our feature article below “Ways to Boost Immunity.”

I also encourage you to pursue ways to create less stress in your home or work environment, and maybe take up meditation, yoga, or deep breathing to learn how to minimize the effects of stress on your mind and body.

Wishing you many blessings of health and happiness in the New Year!

Ways to Boost Immunity – Drinking Enough Water Is Critical

The best ways to boost immunity include drinking enough water, eating fresh food, getting exercise, managing stress, sleeping well, and taking natural supplements and extracts.

The immune system is one of the most complex and remarkable systems in the body.

Some of the key organs and glands of the immune system include the skin, the spleen, the liver, the bone marrow, the lymph nodes, and the thymus gland.

Researchers don’t have all the answers as to how the immune system works, but we do know that one of its main purposes is to identify the body’s enemies (such as bacteria and viruses) and to eliminate them.

Just as diet and exercise can contribute to overall health and vitality, similar lifestyle habits (such as optimal hydration) can keep your immune system strong so it can defeat the enemies it encounters daily.
