Your body will function more efficiently when it is slightly alkaline, even though most metabolic functions are acid producing. Mild acidosis can cause one or more of the following symptoms: • Headache• Nausea• Lack of energy• Dehydration• Loss of appetite• Vomiting• Sleepiness• Shallow breathing There are many potential causes of acidosis, but it is most often caused by unhealthy lifestyle habits. Just to name a few: smoking, drinking excessive alcohol, taking drugs (recreational or prescription), eating too much meat, dairy, fast foods, processed foods, starchy foods or sugar. Other significant contributors include acute or chronic stress, a sedentary lifestyle, as well as high-intensity exercise.
